GREATEST ACT OF HUMANITY

The Greatest Act of Humility By Billy Graham • March 27 • Topics: Pride HomeDaily DevotionThe Greatest Act of Humility cross . . . he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. —Matthew 23:12 In almost every instance in the Bible, as well as in life, pride is associated with failure, not success. We hear a great deal about the inferiority complex, but the superiority complex of pride is seldom spoken of. It was pride that caused the fall of Lucifer, and he became Satan, the devil. It was pride that led King Saul down to a shameful and untimely death. It was pride that caused Peter to deny his Lord. The greatest act of humility in the history of the universe was when Jesus Christ stooped to die on the cross of Calvary. And before any man can get to heaven, he must kneel at the foot of the cross and acknowledge that he is a sinner, that he has broken the Ten Commandments of God, and that he needs the grace of God in Christ. No man can come proudly to the Savior.

MARCH 27, 2017 DEFEATING SATAN TEXT: JAMES 4:7 BIBLE TEXT: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). You should always remember the story of Job whenever Satan comes with his wiles. When you are tempted to sin, God is watching. Consider the possibility that God and Satan are having a conversation about you at that moment. God is saying, "Consider my servant, (insert your name here)" Satan would love to see you fall, confirming his accusation leveled against you before God. Satan, though powerful, is not invincible. We overcome him by not yielding to him but by resisting him. Dr. J. H. Jowett said, "Evil never surrenders its hold without a sore fight." To defeat Satan, all thoughts, affections, words, and actions, must be guided by the word of God. Satan is proved wrong when you yield your life in obedience to God. Remember that Satan is both a defeated foe and a cowardly enemy. Though he roar

The Journey Toward Unselfishness by Joyce Meyer - posted March 27, 2017 . . . I die daily [I face death every day and die to self]. —1 Corinthians 15:31 Selfishness is not learned behavior; we are born with it. The Bible refers to it as "sin nature." Adam and Eve sinned against God by doing what He told them not to do, and the sin principle they established was forever passed to every person who would ever be born. God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins, and to deliver us from them. He came to undo what Adam did. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He comes to live in our spirit, and if we allow that renewed part of us to rule our decisions, we can overcome the sin nature in our flesh. It doesn't go away, but the greater One Who lives in us helps us overcome it daily (see Galatians 5:16). That does not mean that we never sin, but we can improve and make progress throughout our lives. I certainly cannot say I have overcome selfishness entirely—none
