What Makes Christianity Different?

What Makes Christianity Different? By Billy Graham • April 7 Daily DevotionWhat Makes Christianity Different? cross steeple with blue sky He is not here, but is risen. —Luke 24:6 Something distinguishes Christianity from all the religions of the world. Not only does it carry the truth of the redemption, by the death of our Savior for our sins on the cross, but it carries the fact that Christ rose again. Only the Christian faith claims that its Leader died and rose again and is alive at this moment. Many gravestones carry the inscription, “Here lies . . . ,” but on Christ’s tomb are emblazoned the words, “He is not here.” Christianity has no shrines to visit, no dusty remains to venerate, no tombs at which to worship. Many good men have lived, and still live, in the memory of those who knew them, but there is only one Man who conquered death-Jesus Christ-and He will live forever. Prayer for the day The account of Your resurrection never ceases to bring me joy, Lord Je

DIVINE COUNSEL

DIVINE COUNSEL -PROVERBS 19:21-29 KEY VERSE: "There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" (Proverbs 19:21). The May 2009 edition of Readers Digest shared a story of a couple who asked a pastor to perform their marriage ceremony. He proceeded to tell them that he used to give several sessions of premarital counseling before performing weddings and would want to do so for them. The couple replied, "We don’t need counseling. We’ve both been married several times before." Guess who needed counseling most! Someone said that the trouble with good advice is that it usually interferes with your plans. How true! We need the counsel of God because it is always dependable. You cannot do without His opinion in your life. The passage under study opens our eyes to the advantages that will come our way when we accept and exalt the counsel of God in every area of our life. It will influence our desire so that we

THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY

OPEN HEAVENS 2017 THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY – Friday April 7th 2017 Memorise: Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21 Read: 1st Samuel 1:9-11 (KJV) 9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. 11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. Many Children of God may find it hard to accept this truth, but doesn’t change its reality. The reason why some children of Go

Godliman Street

Godliman Street David Roper 1 Samuel 9:1–10 “Look, in this town there is a man of God.”  1 Samuel 9:6 My wife, Carolyn, and I were walking in London and came across a road named Godliman Street. We were told that a man once lived there whose life was so saintly that his street became known as “that godly man’s street.” This reminded me of an Old Testament story. Saul’s father sent his son and a servant to look for some donkeys that had wandered away. The young men searched for many days but couldn’t find the animals. Saul was ready to give up and go home, but his servant pointed toward Ramah, the prophet Samuel’s village, and replied, “Look, in this town there is a man of God; he is highly respected, and everything he says comes true. Let’s go there now. Perhaps he will tell us what way to take” (1 Sam. 9:6). Throughout his years and into old age, Samuel had sought friendship and fellowship with God, and his words were weighty with truth. People knew him to be a proph

AFFIRM THE GOOD THINGS IN YOU.

AFFIRM THE GOOD THINGS IN YOU. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus (Philemon 1:6). For the communication or demonstration of your faith to be effectual, you have to acknowledge every good thing that’s in you, in Christ Jesus. Some Christians only look for and acknowledge negative things in their lives. They’d say, “I’m so impatient. My life is so full of fear. I’m so frustrated; I don’t know what is happening to me….” Talking yourself down like that will make your faith defective and ineffective. Instead, look and see the perfections of Christ in you. Acknowledge every good thing in you in Christ Jesus. Never voice your seeming inabilities, disabilities, or frustrations; rather, affirm the Word and the good things in you. There’re good things in you. If you don’t know what they are, then look into the Word to find out. For example, Galatians 5:22 enumerates some of the good things in
