What sound do you hear?

DCLM Daily Manna March 6, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – What Sound Do You Hear? Topic: What Sound Do You Hear? [Monday March 6, 2017] Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46 Key Verse: "And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain" (1 Kings 18:41).  What you hear usually defines the action you take, influences your attitude in all situations, and determines your fate eventually. If you are surrounded by pessimistic people or those who distrust God’s promises, you are most likely going to resort to self-help which would inevitably spell disaster. After three years of drought and famine in Israel, suddenly, Elijah the prophet was instructed by the Lord to "go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth". And with that, he launched into a huge contest with the false prophets and idol worshippers in Israel. King Ahab, was to witness this as proof of the supremacy and sovereignty of the God of Israel. God spectacul...

Loving Perfectly, March 6

Loving Perfectly March 6, 2017  Loving Perfectly Read: 1 Corinthians 13:4–8 | Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 1–2; Mark 10:1–31  [Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:7–8  Her voice shook as she shared the problems she was having with her daughter. Worried about her teenager’s questionable friends, this concerned mum confiscated her daughter’s mobile phone and chaperoned her everywhere. Their relationship seemed only to go from bad to worse. When I spoke with the daughter, I discovered that she loves her mum dearly but is suffocating under a smothering love. She longs to break free. Thank You for being our model in showing us how to live and love. As imperfect beings, we all struggle in our relationships. Whether we are a parent or child, single or married, we grapple with expressing love the right way, saying and doing the right thing at the right time. We grow in love throughout our lifetim...

I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound. - Philippians 4:11, 12

I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound. - Philippians 4:11, 12 IF we find our experiences in life very checkered we may conclude that the Lord sees that we need both the heights and depths of prosperity and adversity to properly instruct us and qualify us for the position He designs for us in the future. Let us, then, as the apostle did, learn how to abound, not allowing the abundance of earthly good things to swerve us from our consecration vows; and learn also how to be in want (need) and yet not to want anything beyond what the Lord's wisdom and providence see best to give--to be content.

Noon Prayer

Noon Prayer V: O God, make speed to save us. R: O Lord, make haste to help us. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Psalms Psalm 119: Nun Lucerna pedibus meis 105 Your word is a lantern to my feet * and a light upon my path. 106 I have sworn and am determined  * to keep your righteous judgments. 107 I am deeply troubled; * preserve my life, O LORD, according to your word.  108 Accept, O LORD, the willing tribute of my lips,  * and teach me your judgments. 109 My life is always in my hand, * yet I do not forget your law. 110 The wicked have set a trap for me, * but I have not strayed from your commandments. 111 Your decrees are my inheritance for ever; * truly, they are the joy of my heart. 112 I have applied my heart to fulfill your statutes * for ever and to the end. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the b...

The Life of a Servant By Billy Graham • March 5

HomeDaily DevotionThe Life of a Servant man with suitcase So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord . . . —1 Kings 17:5 As messengers of God, we will often lead lonely lives. “All men forsook me,” said Paul. It is a price we have to pay; there is a loneliness in the Gospel. Yet you will not be alone, because you will be ministered to by the Spirit of God, as Elijah was ministered to at the brook Cherith. A true messenger lives a burdened life. If he is the Lord’s vessel, he carries in his heart a burden for souls none can share but those who know it firsthand. Prayer for the day Just as Your Spirit took care of Elijah, I know I am not alone in Your service, almighty God.

Memorise: Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you. 1st Peter 5:7 Read: Matthew 27:27-32 (King James Version) 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. 28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. 32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. Bible in one year: Genesis 34-35, Isaiah 51:1-16 MESSAGE: In Exodus 1:8-11, a generation of the children of Israel woke up one day and realised they had become slaves in a foreign land....

Morning Resolve

Image
My Earliest Thought I Desire Shall Be: "What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord [for grace to help]. I will pay my vows unto the Most High." -- Psalm 116:12-14 Remembering the Divine call, "Gather My saints together unto Me; those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice" (Psalm 50:5), I resolve that by the Lord's assisting grace I will today, as a saint of God, fulfil my vows, continuing the work of sacrificing the flesh and its interests, that I may attain to the Heavenly inheritance in joint-heirship with my redeemer. I will strive to be simple and sincere toward all. I will seek not to please and honor self, but the Lord. I will be careful to honor the Lord with my lips, that my words may be unctuous and blessed to all. I will seek to be faithful to the Lord, the Truth, the brethren and all with whom I have to do, not only in great matters, but also in the l...
