THE SPOKEN...WRITTEN...AND INCARNATE WORD.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES TUESDAY, 16TH MAY.  http://bit.ly/2dZqtLQ THE SPOKEN...WRITTEN...AND INCARNATE WORD. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… (John 1:14). God’s Word first came to man as the “Spoken Word.” The Bible shows that He spoke directly to men, such as Moses, Joshua, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He also spoke to men through angels (Hebrews 2:2). In Hebrews 1:1, we read that God spoke to the fathers through the prophets. He then commanded the prophets to put the message He gave them into writing. Thus, from the Spoken Word, we got the “Written Word,” given for the purpose of witness and evidence. With the Written Word, God’s people could compare His message given to different prophets, at different times, and see a consistency. This way, they’d always know what to do, where to go, and how God wanted them to live. God yet moved further, and this time He spoke His Word in a most remarkable way, through the Man, C...

Memorise:  Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12 Read:  Mark 11:22-24 (King James Version) 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. RIGHT WAY TO WORSHIP GOD

RIGHT WAY TO WORSHIP GOD -NUMBERS 15:22-29 KEY VERSE: "...All the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD..." (Numbers 15:24). God’s essential requirement for His children is that they remain holy in order to live to praise and honour Him. He therefore means to make a unique people, a holy race that "should shew forth the praises of him who hath called [us] out of darkness into his marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9). The children of God are also peculiar partakers of indescribable Heavenly blessings. Therefore, they are to walk with God in holiness, truth and clear conscience. One major way of walking worthy of the LORD is to offer sacrifices of praise for His benefit and also to stay away from sin. The text opens with an instruction which the Lord gave Moses concerning the children of Israel. He emphasised that this practice was to be a habitual worship of thanksgiving to the LORD for every first blessing,...

Being a True Friend

Image
 May 16, 2017 Being a True Friend David H. Roper Genesis 14:17–24 Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine.  Genesis 14:18 Poet Samuel Foss wrote, “Let me live by the side of the road and be a friend to man” (“The House by the Side of the Road”). That’s what I want to be—a friend of people. I want to stand by the way, waiting for weary travelers. To look for those who have been battered and wronged by others, who carry the burden of a wounded and disillusioned heart. To nourish and refresh them with an encouraging word and send them on their way. I may not be able to “fix” them or their problems, but I can leave them with a blessing. Melchizedek, both the king of Salem and a priest, blessed Abram when he was returning weary from battle (Gen. 14). A “blessing” is more than a polite response to a sneeze. We bless others when we bring them to the One who is the source of blessing....

What Is Meekness?

Image
MAY 15 What Is Meekness? Devotional by John Piper “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5) Meekness begins when we put our trust in God. Then, because we trust him, we commit our way to him. We roll onto him our anxieties, our frustrations, our plans, our relationships, our jobs, our health. And then we wait patiently for the Lord. We trust his timing and his power and his grace to work things out in the best way for his glory and for our good. The result of trusting God and the rolling of our anxieties onto God and waiting patiently for God is that we don’t give way to quick and fretful anger. But instead, we give place to wrath and hand our cause over to God and let him vindicate us if he chooses. And then, as James says, in this quiet confidence we are slow to speak and quick to listen (James 1:19). We become reasonable and open to correction. Meekness loves to learn. And it counts the blows of a friend as precious. And when it...

Love Despite Ourselves By Billy Graham

Love Despite Ourselves By Billy Graham   •   May 15   •   Topics: God's Love SHARE5 TWEET HomeDaily DevotionLove Despite Ourselves disheveled man . . . all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags . . . —Isaiah 64:6 The Bible teaches that all our righteousness-falling short of the divine standard as it does-is as filthy rags in the sight of God. There is absolutely no possibility of our manufacturing a righteousness, holiness, or goodness that will satisfy God. Even the best of us is impure to God. I remember one day when my wife was doing the washing. The clothes looked white and clean in the house, but when she hung them on the line they appeared soiled and dirty, in contrast to the fresh-fallen snow. Our own lives may seem at times to be morally good and decent; but in comparison to the holiness and the purity of God, we are defiled and filthy. In spite of our sins and moral uncleanness God loves us. He decided to provide a righteousness fo...

WITHOUT A RIVAL

WITHOUT A RIVAL -EXODUS 20:1-17 KEY VERSE: "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" (Exodus 20:2). In the days of the ancient Near East empires, which was the period the children of Israel sojourned in the wilderness on their way to Canaan, it was the norm for a king to set forth a treaty that established his lordship over the people. This document took the form of laws the subjects must obey to appreciate the king’s guidance. The Ten Commandments God gave to Israel in the third month of their deliverance from Egyptian bondage was also the Lord’s unquestionable statement that He was their King and that Israel was His covenant people bound to Him by rules. They must offer Him complete devotion and loyalty in sheer gratitude for His mercies. That is why He began the laws with "I am the LORD, thy God" to make the proclamation that only His Word would hold sway if the people under Him would enjoy life to...
